Plastic Hang Tags That Survive Weather, Water and Handling

Card is fine until it gets wet. Then it curls, the ink lifts, the corner tears at the hole and the tag that was carrying your price is carrying nothing.

Plastic hang tags do not do any of that. At printshaQ these are printed on 20pt plastic in frosted or solid white, cut to 2" x 3.5" with rounded corners as standard, and shipped in four business days. Drill hole and shipping included.

What Are Plastic Hang Tags?

Plastic hang tags are product tags printed on a synthetic sheet rather than paper card. They are waterproof, tear-resistant and will not soften, wrinkle or fray — which matters the moment a tag is going outdoors, into a nursery, onto a cooler, or anywhere it will be handled repeatedly.

You will also see them called synthetic tags, vinyl tags, waterproof tags, weatherproof swing tags or PVC tags. Same idea: a tag built for conditions that destroy card.

Why Plastic Instead of Card?

Water does nothing. Rain, condensation, a wet greenhouse bench, a drinks fridge, a hand out of a sink. The tag comes out the same shape it went in.
It does not tear at the hole. That is where card tags fail first. Plastic holds a punched hole through repeated handling.
It stays flat. No curl, no soft corners, no furry edges after a month in a display.
It looks deliberate. Plastic reads as considered rather than disposable, which is worth something on a premium product.
It lasts as long as the product. For plants, tools, equipment and anything with a service life, the tag can stay on it.

Two Materials

20pt White Plastic

Solid opaque white. Colours print exactly as you would expect on a bright sheet, and text is crisp and high contrast. This is the straightforward choice, and it is the cheaper of the two.

Prints on one or both sides. Put the price and logo on the front and care instructions, sizing or a barcode on the back.

20pt Frosted Plastic

Translucent, with a soft etched-glass look. Light passes through it, so the tag picks up whatever sits behind it and the printing appears to float. It is the more distinctive of the two and it photographs beautifully.

Prints on the front only. That is a limitation of the material rather than a choice — the back is left clear, which is part of the effect.

Size, Corners and the Hole

Plastic tags come in 2" x 3.5" — the US standard hang tag size, and the one most tag guns, strings and fasteners are built around.

Rounded corners are standard, not an upgrade. On plastic that is a safety decision as much as a cosmetic one: a square-cut synthetic corner is genuinely sharp, and rounded corners are also far less likely to catch and lift in handling.

The drill hole is included at no charge. If you are fitting your own fastening, choose no hole.

Upload your artwork with the order or email it afterwards — both are free. If you have a logo but no design we will build one for $100; if you have a design needing changes that is $50, with a proof before printing.

One thing worth planning for on frosted: because the sheet is translucent, whatever sits behind the tag shows through. Solid blocks of white ink read differently on frosted than on white plastic. If the design matters, ask us and we will tell you how it will actually come out.

From 100 tags to 5,000, with prices starting at $145. Shipping is included in every price shown — nothing is added at checkout.

Plastic costs more than card, and it should: at 100 tags it is roughly double a 16pt paper tag. The question is not whether it is more expensive, it is whether your tag is going somewhere that card will not survive. If it is, a replaced tag costs more than the upgrade.
