Custom Hang Tags Printed in Four Business Days

A hang tag is the last thing a customer touches before they decide. It carries your price, your size, your care instructions and your brand — usually all four, on a piece of card smaller than a credit card. It has to survive a stockroom, a rail, a fitting room and a handbag, and still look like you meant it.

At printshaQ these print on fourteen stocks in ten sizes, from 100 tags to 25,000, and ship in four business days. Every price on this page already includes the drill hole and shipping.

What Are Hang Tags?

Hang tags are printed tags attached to a product rather than printed on it — strung through a buttonhole, looped over a bottle neck, tied to a handle or clipped to a garment. They do the work a label cannot: they carry more information, they come off cleanly, and they can be a different material from the thing they are attached to.

You will also see them called swing tags, swing tickets, product tags, price tags, garment tags or merchandise tags. Same job, different corner of the industry.

Why Hang Tags Are Worth Doing Properly

  • They are handled, not glanced at. A customer picks the tag up and turns it over. Thin card announces itself immediately — and so does 18pt.
  • They carry the price. The tag is where the value conversation happens. A cheap tag argues against your own number.
  • They photograph. On a product shot the tag is often the only place your logo appears at a readable size.
  • They outlive the sale. Tags end up in drawers, on gift bags, in bags of returns. A good one keeps working.

High-Quality Paper Stocks

Fourteen stocks, and they genuinely feel different in the hand. Choose by weight first, then finish.

16pt — the standard, and the widest choice

  • 16pt Matte — matte front and back. Easy to write on, no glare, photographs cleanly. The default for a reason.
  • 16pt UV Gloss — gloss both sides. Colours sit up, deep tones look deeper, fingerprints wipe off.
  • 16pt UV Gloss front, uncoated back — gloss where the customer looks, bare card where you or your staff need to write a size or a price.
  • 16pt Silk Laminated — soft-touch matte. A tag people notice with their fingers before their eyes. The only stock here that takes spot UV on the front, the back or both.
  • 16pt Suede Laminated — a velvet finish, deeper than silk, and the only stock offering raised spot UV. If you have seen a tag where the gloss stands proud of the surface, this is it.

18pt — noticeably thicker

  • 18pt C1S Uncoated — heavy, natural, writable. Takes spot UV on the front.
  • 18pt C1S with UV Gloss front — the same weight with a glossed face.
  • 18pt Brown Kraft — recycled, visible fibre, unbleached. The honest-goods look, and it earns it — this really is recycled stock, not a printed imitation.

14pt — lighter, and the character stocks

  • 14pt Uncoated White — bright, clean, takes a pen without smudging.
  • 14pt Natural Cream — warmer and softer than white. Good with muted palettes and script type.
  • 14pt Pearl Metallic — a genuine shimmer through the sheet, not a printed effect. It costs more because the stock costs more.
  • 14pt with Aqueous Coating — a light protective seal on a lighter card.

Specialist

  • 32pt Black Edge — two boards bonded around a black core, so the edge of the tag is a black line. Extremely thick, and unmistakable in the hand.
  • 100lb Linen — a woven texture pressed into the sheet. Traditional, tactile, and the choice when you want the tag to feel like stationery.

Sizes

Ten sizes, chosen to cover what tags are actually used for rather than to pad a list:

  • 2" x 3.5" — the US standard, and the one most people mean by "hang tag"
  • 1.5" x 3.5" and 1.75" x 3.5" — slimmer, for narrower garments and less shelf noise
  • 2" x 2", 2.5" x 2.5", 3" x 3", 3.5" x 3.5" — squares, from small to substantial
  • 2" x 4" and 2" x 6" — taller formats when there is genuinely more to say
  • 2.125" x 5" bottle neck — shaped for the neck of a bottle, for drinks, oils, sauces and gifting

Corners, Spot UV and the Drill Hole

Rounded corners are available on matte, UV gloss, UV gloss front, suede and pearl metallic. Rounded corners are not decoration on a hang tag — square corners are what curl and fray first when tags rub together in a box.

Spot UV puts a gloss varnish on chosen areas only, so a logo or a pattern catches the light against a matte background. It is available on 16pt Matte, 16pt Silk and 18pt C1S. Silk takes it on the front, the back or both sides. Suede takes raised spot UV, where the varnish has real height you can feel.

The drill hole is included — there is no upcharge for it, and no charge for choosing where it goes. If you would rather finish the tags yourself, choose no hole.

Artwork Setup

Upload your artwork with the order, or email it afterwards — both are on the dropdown, and neither costs extra. If you have a logo but no design, we will build one for $100. If you have a design that needs changes, that is $50 and we send a proof before printing.

If you choose spot UV, you will be asked for a mask file as well as the artwork — a separate file marking exactly where the gloss goes. A printer cannot work that out from the design, and guessing it is how spot UV goes wrong.

Quantities and Pricing

From 100 tags up to 25,000. Prices start at $85 and every price shown includes shipping — there is no freight added at checkout and no surprise at the end.

The per-tag cost falls sharply with volume, so the printed price is always shown alongside the per-tag figure. Change any option and both update immediately.

Hang Tags for Every Kind of Product

Clothing and apparel, boutiques and independent labels, candles and home fragrance, bottled drinks and sauces, soap and skincare, jewellery, craft fairs and markets, gift shops, subscription boxes, and anything sold at a stall where the tag is the only sales assistant you have.
